Exploring the theme of ancestral mothers to honor the strength, resilience, and wisdom of the women who came before me. My use of blue hues throughout the pieces evokes a sense of calmness, introspection, and depth, inviting the viewer to connect with the essence of these women and their legacy. The blindfold on the face mask represents the blind eye they had to turn away, symbolizing the challenges they faced and overcame. The third eye signifies their intuition, reflecting their deep wisdom and foresight. The wire wrapping represents the continued connection throughout the bloodline, forever tied together with love. Just as the color blue represents the vastness of the ocean and the expansiveness of the sky, so too do these women embody a timeless and boundless spirit that transcends generations. By bringing their stories to life, I hope to inspire others to remember and celebrate the powerful women in their ancestral generations who have paved the way for them as well.
